Neuma Adds Test Suite Management to CM+ Enterprise

ALM Expo and Ottawa, Canada - September 14, 2005 - The Application Lifecycle does not end with the creation of builds and baselines. Testing and the management of testing related work products - test cases and test results - is an integral part of the lifecycle. Neuma Technology today announced availability of its Test Suite Management capability as a low-cost add-on option for existing third generation CM+ Enterprise customers. The Test Suite Management application will be included as part of the fourth generation CM+ Enterprise release slated beta availability before the end of the month.

"It's fine to have test tools that manage and optimize your testing capabilities, but if you do not manage your test cases and the results of your test runs in your ALM repository, you've got an incomplete picture and lack traceability", says Paul Bérubé, Neuma's Director of CM+ Product Engineering. Mr. Bérubé makes a good point. A requirements to test case matrix is typically used both to ensure that all requirements are covered by test cases and to prove that all test cases have run successfully against a particular release. With CM+, product requirements, test cases and test results are tracked in one place, making traceability easy.

CM+ allows you to group your test cases hierarchically. This is an important organizational capability. But then it also allows you to define test runs. You may define a grouping of test runs, typically run at different times or by different testers, for a particular build, or for a series of builds culminating in a "candidate" build. So a particular tester may keep track of each of his/her testing sessions, including which tests were run, which passed and which failed for each session.

"We've worked closely with a number of customers to get this functionality down right, and this has paid off - they're happy. Our test suite management reporting gives management the information it needs to make quality assessments, track down risk areas and zoom into specific problems", adds Bérubé.

Apart from the basic quality reporting of how many test cases were run/passed/failed, CM+ allows you to ask which build a test case last passed or failed in and lets you tailor your test cases for a particular session to address specific problem areas.

Test Suite Management is fully integrated with CM+ Requirements Tracking, Build Tracking and Problem Tracking. And because Test Suite Management is built on the advanced STS repository and process workflow engine, you have the same ability to dynamically customize your application - process, schema, user interface, permissions and reporting - as is available for all other components of the CM+ Enterprise product.
